Quercetin and vitamin C duo against coronavirus!

When vitamin C is consumed together with quercetin, one of the strongest antioxidant substances found in nature, it becomes an effective preventive or protective against coronavirus.

The Kovid-19 virus, which negatively affects both life and health, has been going on for about a year. In addition to the measures and vaccines taken to prevent the virus, experts make statements emphasizing the importance of strengthening immunity. Experts, who said that immunity should be strong not only in coronavirus but also in other viruses, reminded the importance of vitamin C and quercetin. Milliyet columnist Dr. Demet Erciyes talked about the effects of these two substances in her column today:

KUERCETIN AND VITAMIN C AGAINST CORONAVIRUS!

In order to strengthen our immune system, which protects us in our fight against this pandemic and also fights the virus when we encounter it, we should pay attention to our diet, sleep well, manage stress well, not smoke, and not let our vitamin D drop. In addition to all these measures, I would also like to mention the ingenuity of the antioxidant called quercetin and vitamin C. We all know about vitamin C and its benefits against infections. However, I would like to talk about the unknown benefits of this hard-to-pronounce antioxidant and its outstanding services that deserve a medal in our fight against the coronavirus. When this awesome duo joins hands to help us in our fight against the virus, they draw strength from each other and produce even better results. Turkish scientists noticed this synergetic effect and did a good job, and a successful product emerged as a result of this study.

PROF. ONAL’S STUDY

S .THIS. Professor of Health Sciences University at Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Training and Research Hospital. Dr. 113 people were included in the study conducted by Hasan Önal. In this study, two different groups were formed for comparison. The first group formed by giving 500 mg of quercetin and 500 mg of vitamin C (QC) in 2 divided doses per day to 71 healthcare workers working in areas with high COVID-19 risk was determined as the protection group, and 42 people who did not receive this supplement were determined as the control group. The study group was followed for 113 to 118 days, and in 1 healthcare worker in the QC group and in the control group
It was determined that 9 out of 42 people developed COVID-19 during the follow-up period. Well, let’s take a look at what quercetin, which we don’t know much from these two, protects us even if we are in risky environments for Covid-19, protects us from the coronavirus like this, and what other ingenuity does it have.

EFFECT AGAINST VIRUSES

Quercetin prevents coronaviruses from binding to ACE receptors and entering human cells. Thus, it directly prevents the transmission of the disease. In addition, this valuable antioxidant, which has a place in the treatment, also prevents the replication of the virus in the body. In this way, it will also make a great contribution to the treatment of coronavirus. It alleviates the symptoms. It accelerates and facilitates healing.

BALANCES HEAD

You know, that cytokine storm that we hear a lot when things go bad in the coronavirus infection, you know, when our immune system says that we will destroy the coronavirus, it deviates and attacks healthy cells and causes patients to get worse in the intensive care unit. Quercetin also prevents the emergence of cytokine storm by balancing the immune system.

REDUCE FIRE

By balancing the immune response, it reduces the chronic inflammation that we see in many chronic inflammatory diseases and autoimmune system diseases.

REDUCES rheumatoid arthritis

It is also beneficial against rheumatoid arthritis, also known as chronic joint inflammation, thanks to its reduction in inflammation. For example, in a study conducted in 2017, it was shown that quercetin was given 500 mg daily to 50 women with rheumatoid arthritis, providing significant improvements in the clinical manifestations of the disease after 8 weeks.

Helps heal acute kidney injury from Covid-19

Scientific studies have shown that it is effective in the treatment of kidney damage caused by Covid-19 and in reducing high creatinine levels.

BENEFICIAL FOR HEART AND VASCULAR HEALTH

Quercetin is also very beneficial for cardiovascular health. Quercetin has a reparative, protective and dilating effect on blood vessels. Thus, it helps in the treatment of hypertension. It protects the inner surface of the vessel and reduces the formation of plaque. It also helps in preventing platelets from clogging the vessels by collecting and forming clots.

EFFECTIVE IN THE TREATMENT AND PREVENTION OF ALLERGY

Quercetin is a potent suppressor of the blood IgE allergic response. Therefore, it is useful in the treatment of IgE-mediated food allergies.

USEFUL IN ALLERGIC ASTHMA

It is useful in the prevention of allergic reactions, especially in the prevention of allergic asthma attacks.

USEFUL FOR THE BRAIN

Quercetin, as a powerful antioxidant, has a strong protective effect against brain diseases such as Parkinson’s and dementia, as it protects brain cells from oxidative stress, which we call rust.

Helps to suppress the proliferation of cancer cells

There are studies showing that it helps shrink the tumor in the treatment of leukemia, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer.

USEFUL IN GUT TREATMENT

Quercetin is beneficial in reducing the uric acid level, which is high in gout, and in alleviating the symptoms of this disease with its anti-inflammatory effect.

USEFUL FOR THE EYE

It is useful in the prevention of cataracts, in protecting the eyes from the damage of diabetes.

When quercetin is taken with vitamin C, its absorption is further increased. In addition, if we add the benefits of vitamin C, we will see that a stronger and beneficial effect emerges with this amazing duo.

WHAT DOES KUERSETIN HAVE?

Good news; This beneficial antioxidant is found in many fruits and vegetables. It has the greatest amount of red onions. In addition, apples, blueberries, green tea, capers, kale, leeks, broccoli are among the richest sources.
