Cancer is an uncontrolled cell division that our body cannot control for many reasons. Cancer is the second most common cause of death today. It develops depending on many factors. We divide these factors into two as changing and unchangeable factors. Modifiable factors: environmental factors, dietary habits, infection and chemical agents, and cigarette-alcohol consumption.
Unchangeable factors are age, gender, race and genetics.

Physical activity is a very important protective factor in preventing the development of cancer. It has been observed that regular walking for 75-100 minutes a week reduces the risk of breast cancer by 15%. The most common type of cancer in women is breast cancer. We encounter breast cancer in one of every eight women.

50 years and older at increased risk

Family history and being over 50 years of age increase the risk. It increases the risk of having breast cancer in the family by 30-80%, so this group should be more conscious. Catching breast cancer early is entirely up to you. Here, breast self-examination allows us to detect the tumor at an early stage.

We also encounter breast cancer in men. There is one male breast cancer for every hundred female breast cancer. It is usually encountered at a later stage than in women, since it is not considered in men and breast examination is not performed. In men, it also gives findings such as a mass in the breast or a mass in the armpit.

Shows signs of redness and swelling in the breast

Breast cancer is most commonly encountered with a mass in the breast, and asymmetry in the breast may present as redness, swelling, and a mass in the armpit.
In the past, the entire breast was surgically removed, and then Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy were applied depending on some factors. Our current treatment approach is the removal of only the tumor, which is called breast sparing. In addition, in breast-conserving surgery, invisible tumor cells and remaining breast tissue are irradiated to provide organ protection.

In recent years, great advances have been made in radiation therapy, that is, Radiotherapy. In the past, it was seen that the risk of heart attack increased, especially in left breast cancer radiation therapy. Today, this risk can be reduced with new developing techniques. The technique called respiratory control for left breast cancer reduces the risk of heart attack to minimum levels.
